Candice Glover was crowned the new “American Idol” on Thursday after defeating country singer Kree Harrison.
The booming 23-year-old R&B vocalist from St. Helena Island, S.C., looked stunned when “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest announced she bested soulful 22-year-old country singer Harrison from Woodville, Texas . The vote count was not announced.
With everyone talking about Kelly Rowland’s new song “Dirty Laundry,” and its references to an abusive relationship, Rowland’s ex-fiancee Roy Williams hopped on Twitter quickly to make sure everyone knew that he wasn’t the abusive jerk she’s singing about in the song.
“So Kelly has a new song. Called #DirtyLaundry.. & what ever she’s saying in it ppl thinks it’s me. #wow #imnottheonlypersonshedated #wasntme,” he tweeted.
Kendrick Lamar explained in a recent interview with Get Schooled just how much it meant for him to land Jay-Z on the remix for his single “B*tch, Don’t Kill My Vibe.” For K. Dot it was affirmation of his reputation.
“It was one of them feelings where, you know, you finally reached that moment to where you’re actually respected,” Lamar said. “Jay-Z don’t have to [be on] nobody’s track, so for him to actually hop on a record of mine just shows the level of respect he has for me as an artist. And as a true artist, that’s what you want. You have all the money in the world and the awards, and accolades and stuff, you always want that respect. For him to do that, it’s just one of them things. I felt like, ‘OK, I finally accomplished what I sought out to do the moment I turned 13, and that’s be respected by people I respect.”

Florida Today reported that policewere called to the home around 1 a.m. to investigate a disturbance. Maxwell and several other men allegedly stormed the home but were met with force. By the time Palm Bay police arrived on the scene, they found that Maxwell had been kicked, beaten and tased by the residents.
He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment of his injuries. The suspect was charged with one count of home invasion robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon and four counts of battery.
He was held on a $51,000 bond at the Brevard County Jail Complex in Sharpes. A 17-year-old companion of Maxwell was arrested on the same charges. It is not clear whether the victims knew Maxwell or the other men suspected in home invasion.
A 4-year-old boy died after being left in a hot car in North Carolina. The incident happened in Transylvania County, which is two hours west of Charlotte.
Authorities said it was an accident. The child’s grandmother had the boy in the car while she drove other children to school. Police said they are not sure why she didn’t realize the child was still in the back seat.
A neighbor said the grandmother was under a lot of stress and had recently been in the hospital.
“Love & Hip Hop” stars Rasheeda and Lil Scrappy have got the rumor mill working overtime. Rasheeda’s husband Kirk Frost has openly questioned her pregnancy, and there may be a valid reason for it. There is talk that she and Scrappy have been spending time together.
Of course, Scrappy should already have enough drama on his hands, with his always-close relationship with his “buddy” Shay Johnson and his ex-fiance Erica Dixon on the sidelines.
Neither Scrappy nor Rasheeda have addressed the chatter.
Eazy-E and Ol Dirty Bastard’s families gave their blessings to feature hologram versions of the late rappers at Rock The Bells.
There were a lot of mixed feelings surrounding the Tupac hologram at Coachella. While many were impressed by the technological achievement, others were left uncomfortable with the posthumous performance. When it was announced that both Eazy-E and Ol’ Dirty Bastard would appear in hologram-form at this year’s Rock The Bells festival, similar feelings arose, but as far as the late rapper’s families are concerned, they are fully on board with the choice.
Eazy’s widow, Tomica Wright has been very supportive of the use of her loved one’s image. “This is the perfect setting because it’s nostalgic – it’s bringing back someone that’s opened doors, both ODB and Eazy-E,” said Wright. “It has to be the right place in the right form.”
Mannie Fresh addressed Birdman’s comment that Drake & Lil Wayne would be involved in the new Big Tymers album in his place, explaining that while he respected the Cash Money artists, they are not the Big Tymers.
On last week’s edition of Rap Fix Live, Birdman controversially revealed that while there would be a new Big Tymers album, it would not involve founding member Mannie Fresh. Even more controversially, Baby hinted that Lil Wayne and Drake may take Mannie’s place in the former duo.

New Jersey police arrested two elderly residents on suspicion of running a prostitution ring out of their senior citizen housing complex, Vincente Tibbs in Englewood.
Police were tipped to game after residents complained of addicts roaming their 152-unit building.
James Parham, 75, confessed to police that he was offering prostitutes to his younger neighbors for sex. Parham’s partner, Cheryl Chaney, 66, was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
A school crossing guard, Selma McDuffie, 54, has been suspended and banned from visiting the complex, for what we just don’t know but one can imagine.
Parham is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday (May 15). Chaney and McDuffie are due in court June 11.
And on top of that, both Parham and Chaney are in the process of being evicted from the home.

On Tuesday, Actress Angelina Jolie revealed, in a New York Times article, that she quietly underwent a preventive double mastectomy after discovering she carried the BRCA1 gene, which sharply increases a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. The following is her statement:
“My mother fought cancer for almost a decade and died at 56. She held out long enough to meet the first of her grandchildren and to hold them in her arms. But my other children will never have the chance to know her and experience how loving and gracious she was.
We often speak of “Mommy’s mommy,” and I find myself trying to explain the illness that took her away from us. They have asked if the same could happen to me. I have always told them not to worry, but the truth is I carry a “faulty” gene, BRCA1, which sharply increases my risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer, although the risk is different in the case of each woman.
Only a fraction of breast cancers result from an inherited gene mutation. Those with a defect in BRCA1 have a 65 percent risk of getting it, on average. Continue reading
According to authorities reports, two children are dead and their mother has been charged with shooting them and her husband, who has life-threatening injuries, while they were in bed in their Dacusville home.
Suzanna Brown Simpson, 35, Easley, SC was charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to warrants.
Simpsons’ children, Carly Ashlyn Simpson, 7, and Sawyer Russell Simpson, 5, were killed, according to warrants.
They were students at Dacusville Elementary, according to John Eby, spokesman for Pickens County School District.

A Kings Mountain woman has been arrested and charged with beating another woman with a Bible.
Evelyn Mills Moore, 57, was arrested Saturday on a charge of assault inflicting serious injury. The arrest warrant states Moore used her fists and a Bible to strike the other woman. The victim suffered bruises on her head, face and arms.
Moore also was charged with assault accusing her of striking a man with her fist, causing numerous bruises. Moore was being held in the Cleveland County jail. It was not clear if she has a lawyer.
More speculation comes in concerning Kanye West’s new album. Now a Japanese retailer may have confirmed the date, listing that a new album from ‘Ye is dropping on June 19th.
Today we get more potential confirmation that Kanye West is planning to drop on album in June. The rapper tweeted out the date ‘June 18′ on May 2nd, which set the internet ablaze wondering what exactly ‘Ye had planned for said date. Rumors included, an album, a single, his child’s birth…but nothing has been confirmed by the man himself. However, the Japanese retailer HMV Japan seems to think it’s an album.
Jaden Smith asked his father Will Smith to be emancipated for his fifteenth birthday.
Jaden Smith seems to be mature beyond his years. The 14-year-old rapper, and son of famous parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, already has quite the unique style and his own fashion line in the works, he’s got a rap career, an acting career, and now, he’s ready to move out of his parent’s home.
For his fifteenth birthday, which is coming up in July, Jaden apparently asked his parents to be emanicapted so he could get his own place. Will Smith told The Sun, “He says, ‘Dad, I want to be emancipated.’ I know if we do this, he can be an emancipated minor, because he really wants to have his own place, like ooh.” Will continued, “That’s the backlash. On the other side, if kids just want to have command of their lives, I understand.”
Treach recently admitted that he and Naughty By Nature bandmate Vinnie (aka Vin Rock) haven’t been close in over two years. Despite their feuding only now becoming public, Treach told “The Breakfast Club” that Vinnie sucker-punched him during a meeting in 2011 and that sparked the bad blood between them.
“Once hands was put on somebody in a meeting and you’re talking business, that’s sucker-punching. That don’t go,” Treach explained. “I ain’t speak to the homie since.”
