Candice Glover was crowned the new “American Idol” on Thursday after defeating country singer Kree Harrison.

The booming 23-year-old R&B vocalist from St. Helena Island, S.C., looked stunned when “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest announced she bested soulful 22-year-old country singer Harrison from Woodville, Texas . The vote count was not announced.

A weepy Glover performed the new single “I Am Beautiful” after winning the 12th edition of the Fox singing competition. Glover auditioned for the show three times before making it as a finalist this season.

Thursday’s finale also served as a farewell for Randy Jackson. The show’s lone remaining original judge announced last week that he’s leaving “Idol” to focus on his record label and other businessopportunities.

With everyone talking about Kelly Rowland’s new song “Dirty Laundry,” and its references to an abusive relationship, Rowland’s ex-fiancee Roy Williams hopped on Twitter quickly to make sure everyone knew that he wasn’t the abusive jerk she’s singing about in the song.

“So Kelly has a new song. Called #DirtyLaundry.. & what ever she’s saying in it ppl thinks it’s me. #wow #imnottheonlypersonshedated #wasntme,” he tweeted.

When one of his followers if the ex in question could be former Ma$e manager Cuda Love, Roy responded to that, too.

“#bingo but thats not my place to speak on it.. #somanystoriespeoplejustdontknowabout” he tweeted.

Kendrick Lamar explained in a recent interview with Get Schooled just how much it meant for him to land Jay-Z on the remix for his single “B*tch, Don’t Kill My Vibe.” For K. Dot it was affirmation of his reputation.

“It was one of them feelings where, you know, you finally reached that moment to where you’re actually respected,” Lamar said. “Jay-Z don’t have to [be on] nobody’s track, so for him to actually hop on a record of mine just shows the level of respect he has for me as an artist. And as a true artist, that’s what you want. You have all the money in the world and the awards, and accolades and stuff, you always want that respect. For him to do that, it’s just one of them things. I felt like, ‘OK, I finally accomplished what I sought out to do the moment I turned 13, and that’s be respected by people I respect.”

Kendrick said Jay’s appearance inspired him to step his game up.

“I felt like I had to try to at least come some type of correct because that was my moment,” he says. “All them years of rapping and writing raps didn’t mean nothing if I couldn’t live up to that moment.”

Florida Today reported that policewere called to the home around 1 a.m. to investigate a disturbance. Maxwell and several other men allegedly stormed the home but were met with force. By the time Palm Bay police arrived on the scene, they found that Maxwell had been kicked, beaten and tased by the residents.

He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment of his injuries. The suspect was charged with one count of home invasion robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon and four counts of battery.

He was held on a $51,000 bond at the Brevard County Jail Complex in Sharpes. A 17-year-old companion of Maxwell was arrested on the same charges. It is not clear whether the victims knew Maxwell or the other men suspected in home invasion.

A 4-year-old boy died after being left in a hot car in North Carolina. The incident happened in Transylvania County, which is two hours west of Charlotte.

Authorities said it was an accident. The child’s grandmother had the boy in the car while she drove other children to school. Police said they are not sure why she didn’t realize the child was still in the back seat.

A neighbor said the grandmother was under a lot of stress and had recently been in the hospital.

“Love & Hip Hop” stars Rasheeda and Lil Scrappy have got the rumor mill working overtime. Rasheeda’s husband Kirk Frost has openly questioned her pregnancy, and there may be a valid reason for it. There is talk that she and Scrappy have been spending time together.

Of course, Scrappy should already have enough drama on his hands, with his always-close relationship with his “buddy” Shay Johnson and his ex-fiance Erica Dixon on the sidelines.

Neither Scrappy nor Rasheeda have addressed the chatter.

Eazy-E and Ol Dirty Bastard’s families gave their blessings to feature hologram versions of the late rappers at Rock The Bells.

There were a lot of mixed feelings surrounding the Tupac hologram at Coachella. While many were impressed by the technological achievement, others were left uncomfortable with the posthumous performance. When it was announced that both Eazy-E and Ol’ Dirty Bastard would appear in hologram-form at this year’s Rock The Bells festival, similar feelings arose, but as far as the late rapper’s families are concerned, they are fully on board with the choice.

Eazy’s widow, Tomica Wright has been very supportive of the use of her loved one’s image. “This is the perfect setting because it’s nostalgic – it’s bringing back someone that’s opened doors, both ODB and Eazy-E,” said Wright. “It has to be the right place in the right form.”

ODB’s mother, Cherry Jones also expressed positive feelings concerning the use of her son’s hologram.”This keeps the artists alive. Dirty was a great artist onstage. This is going to be something else, because he was really great onstage,” she explained. “I just want to see the look on his sister and brother’s face, his children, grandchildren . . . I can’t wait.”

The other performers at this year’s Rock The Bells are also excited to share the stage with the late legends.”On behalf of bone thugs n harmony we can’t wait to hit the stage this year for rock the bells with our mentor and the person who started gangsta rap and put us on in the industry to do what we love!” said Bone Thugs’ manager Steve Lobel. “It is going to feel awesome being on stage with Eazy-E performing again with him!”

The holograms will appear at the first Rock The Bells Date at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California, on September 7th and 8th.

Mannie Fresh addressed Birdman’s comment that Drake & Lil Wayne would be involved in the new Big Tymers album in his place, explaining that while he respected the Cash Money artists, they are not the Big Tymers.

On last week’s edition of Rap Fix Live, Birdman controversially revealed that while there would be a new Big Tymers album, it would not involve founding member Mannie Fresh. Even more controversially, Baby hinted that Lil Wayne and Drake may take Mannie’s place in the former duo.

Fresh called into Rap Fix today to comment on the claims, expressing that while both Wayne and Drake are great artists in their own right, they are “not the Big Tymers.”

The rapper/producer clarified that it was not an issue of quality, but simply stressed that it would be difficult to replicate the duo, as he accounted for 50% of it, and Drizzy and Weezy are of a new generation. “It’s kinda like doing a Jackson 5 album with Boyz II Men,” said Mannie, via Skype. “Two different eras, great artists, but Boyz II Men is not the Jackson 5.”

Mannie had a falling out with Cash Money after he felt he was not compensated fully for his production, an issue with the label that other beatmakers have shared. Fresh often contributed the beats for full 18 track efforts from the likes of Juvenile, Lil Wayne, and his own Big Tymers.
