(News) Mannie Fresh Says Drake & Lil Wayne are “Not Big Tymers”
Mannie Fresh addressed Birdman’s comment that Drake & Lil Wayne would be involved in the new Big Tymers album in his place, explaining that while he respected the Cash Money artists, they are not the Big Tymers.
On last week’s edition of Rap Fix Live, Birdman controversially revealed that while there would be a new Big Tymers album, it would not involve founding member Mannie Fresh. Even more controversially, Baby hinted that Lil Wayne and Drake may take Mannie’s place in the former duo.
(Video) Mannie Fresh Talks About New Big Tymers Album
Last week, Birdman revealed plans of a new Big Tymers album with Lil Wayne and Drake instead of Mannie Fresh. On this week’s episode of RapFix, Mannie called into the show to give his thoughts on the project. He also speaks on his fall out with Birdman and Cash Money.
“It’s kinda like doing a Jackson 5 album with Boyz II Men. Two different eras, great artists, but Boyz II Men is not the Jackson 5. I don’t bash Cash Money, Birdman, or none of them. It’s really on, I’m just striving on just getting what I deserve, you know, what I put in. Honestly I think Drake is a great artist, I think Wayne is a great artist, but they not the Big Tymers. You can call it whatever you want to call it, but you can’t call it a Big Tymers album.”

(News) Lil Wayne Issues Apology For Emmett Till Line
Lil Wayne’s Emmett Till line on ‘Karate Chop (Remix)’ caused alot of controversy and upset Emmett’s family. They were not pleased with the line and they recently started a new campaign to get Mountain Dew to drop Weezy. Today, Lil Wayne follows in Rick Ross’ footsteps and issues a formal apology for the lyric.
Lil Wayne says:
Dear Till Family:
As a recording artist, I have always been interested in word play. My lyrics often reference people, places and events in my music, as well as the music that I create for or alongside other artists.
It has come to my attention that lyrics from my contribution to a fellow artist’s song has deeply offended your family. As a father myself, I cannot imagine the pain that your family has had to endure. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge your hurt, as well as the letter you sent to me via your attorneys.
Moving forward, I will not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in my music, especially in an inappropriate manner. I fully support Epic Record’s decision to take down the unauthorized version of the song and to not include the reference in the version that went to retail. I will not be performing the lyrics that contain that reference live and have removed them from my catalogue.
I have tremendous respect for those who paved the way for the liberty and opportunities that African-Americans currently enjoy. As a business owner who employs several African-American employees and gives philanthropically to organizations that help youth to pursue their dreams my ultimate intention is to uplift rather than degrade our community.
Best,
Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.
