(News) Spartanburg SC: Man Arrested For Wearing “Profane” Shirt & Cursing At Cops

profane shirt

Police said they asked an Upstate man to leave a park during a sexual violence awareness event because of the shirt he was wearing, causing him to become angry, cursing officers until he was arrested.

Spartanburg police said they were notified that a man was wearing a shirt that read, “I may not be Mr. Right but I’ll [expletive] you ’til he shows up” inside Barnet Park on Saturday during the “Rock the Denim” event.

The man, later identified as 50-year-old Michael Miller, was spotted by an officer and told he was not allowed in the park wearing the shirt, to which Miller replied he would wear the shirt anywhere he wanted to, according to the police report.

Police said Miller was verbally trespassed from the park during the event, making him angrier. Miller continued to walk nearby, yelling and cussing as officers told him to leave the area.

As Miller continued to walk between Converse and Dean streets, police said he cursed at them and was then arrested. He was charged with public disorderly conduct.

According to the Facebook page for the Rock the Denim event, it was a live concert to raise awareness of sexual violence and support local agencies who work with victims of sexual assault.

(News) Charleston SC – Mugshot: Drunk Female Cop Crashes Police Car

drunk copA North Charleston police officer has been placed on administrative leave after she was charged with driving under the influence following a wreck in her cruiser early Monday.

Summerville Magistrate Court officials said 29-year-old Christina Mask was granted a personal recognizance bond on Monday and released from the Dorchester County Detention Center shortly afterwards.

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials said Mask was driving drunk around 1 a.m. Monday on McMakin Road in Jedburg when she ran off the road and hit a driveway culvert.  She was traveling east, troopers said.

“My wife called me and she said she heard an explosion out front,” said a man who owns the home where the officer’s car crashed. He did not want to be identified.

Troopers said Mask was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.  She was not on duty at the time of the wreck.  According to court documents, her blood-alcohol level was recorded at .17, more than twice the legal limit.

Mask was charged with DUI and open container.

North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said Mask has been placed on administrative leave without pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.  Pryor said she has been with the department since 2009.

(News) Columbia SC: Teen Popped Acid, Dumped His Clothes in Broad River Then Tried To Break INTO Jail

ratchetA teenager who sparked a large search near Harbison State Forest was found hours later on Department of Corrections property naked and on drugs, a State Forestry Commission official said.

According to Scott Hawkins, four teenagers went hiking in the forest earlier Sunday afternoon. When two of them got separated from the group sometime around 5 p.m., a call was placed to emergency officials.

Searchers first located one of the missing hikers. That teen was transported to an area hospital.

Searchers found the other missing male teen’s clothes in the Broad River.

Hours later, he was located near the Broad River Correctional Institution high on LSD and naked, according to Hawkins.

Hawkins said all four teens had been doing drugs. He did not know the ages or gender of the others involved.

Charges are pending against the male teen, Hawkins said. He said the search was a huge expense for taxpayers because all of the resources used.

Columbia firefighters, Columbia police officers, Department of Natural Resources officers and State Forestry Commission officials helped with the search. SLED also utilized its helicopter.

(News) Video: Sumter SC: 2 Men Shot To Death In Home Invasion

Sumter, SC (WLTX) – Two men have been found shot to death at a home in Sumter.

Sumter County deputies say just after 1:40 a.m. they got a call of shots fired along Confederate Road. When they arrived at the location, a woman flagged them down and took them to a home where she said her son and nephew had been fighting, and they both might be dead.

Once inside, officers discovered the bodies of two men in the hallway of the home and signs of what appeared to be a struggle.

According to an incident report, officers say they also saw a large quantity marijuana and spent rounds of ammunition on the floor.

Police say they haven’t determined what caused the incident or if other people are involved. However, they do say they don’t believe the men shot each other because they did not find a weapon at the scene, and they think it could be a home invasion.

(News) Unidentified Toddler Abandoned On Front Porch Of Anderson SC Home

abandoned baby

The identity of a toddler who was abandoned on the front porch of a home in an Anderson County subdivision is still unknown.

The child appears to be 2 to 3 years old, according to investigators.

Anderson County sheriff’s spokesman Chad McBride said there is a “high probability she’s not from this area.”

McBride said Anderson County law enforcement typically gets tips on even the smallest crimes, things as insignificant as lawnmower thefts.

“Not one tip has come in so far to the Sheriff’s Office or Crimestoppers. Nothing. And that’s highly unusual,” McBride said. “She could be from the other side of the country for all we know, we just don’t know.”

Because of the child’s surgical scars, a doctor from Greenville Health System will check her out to see if they can figure out what type of surgery she had.

“We’re going to reach down to the Charleston hospital today, where they perform a lot of surgeries on kids,” McBride said.  ”We’re just trying anything to figure it out,” McBride said. “How in the world did she get here and who in the world is she?”

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said that someone rang the doorbell at the home on Brook Forest Drive in the Nevitt Forest subdivision at about 11 p.m. Tuesday. When Roy Campbell opened the door, he found the baby girl in a stroller and no sign of who had left her.
