IFWT_MuhammadAli2

To celebrate Black History Month, Today MightyDamnFresh honor Muhammad Ali. Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., on January 17, 1942. Before going on to be the boxing legend and cultural icon that he is, Ali was a philanthropist and social activist. Ali made his professional boxing debut on October 29, 1960, winning a six-round decision over Tunney Hunsaker. Between 1960-1963 he was able to have a record of 19-0 with 15 wins by knockout. The boxer joined the Nation of Islam in 1964, promoting his name change. After refusing to join the draft, Ali was arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges, he was stripped of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended until his appeal went to the Supreme Court. His most infamous matches were against his rival Joe Frazier and are still considered the greatest matches of all time.

King Mo got his a** knocked off his throne in this MMA fight. MMA Bellator is similar to UFC, just a different organization. King Mo as he refers to himself had a big buzz for because in his first fight he gave someone a one hit knockout. Well I guess what goes around comes back around, cause he was on the wrong end of a one hit knockout in this fight by Emanuel Newton.

(Sports) DAMN What Was That DeAndre Jordan? The Worst Free Throw Attempt Ever

IFWT_DeAndre

This dude makes Shaq look like he was a world class free throw shooter when he played. DeAndre Jordan is literally one of the worst free throw shooters in NBA history. But still…this was pitiful!! And his a** got the nerve to blow on his hands after he missed, like the reason he missed so bad is cause his hands were cold. Stevie Wonder could see this boy can’t shoot. As of last night, he was shooting just over 42% from the foul line, which is literally the worst in the NBA. Knowing that, I don’t want to get him too bad for this miss, but come on bro, you getting paid!! Get in the gym and get that part of your game up.

Spartanburg, SC– Women!! How many times has it been said to leave your guy, or significant other, alone when they are being entertained by watching their favorite sport(s) on tv??

On Wednesday, at a home in Spartanburg SC, 51-year-old Dwight Anthony Boyd got in an argument with his girlfriend because she wouldn’t leave him alone while he was watching a football game.

At one point, police say he told her that if she didn’t leave him alone, he would throw feces (yea feces, doodoo, dookie, etc.) from a portable toilet belonging to an elderly man living in the home.

The man made good on his promise, officers say, and also hit her and knocked her to the floor.

So not only did she get hit with shit, she got knocked out too!! DAAMMMMMNNNNN!!

Needless to say, Boyd is facing charges.

(Sports) RIP Mike Brown’s NBA Dreams

20121109-132335.jpg

YOOOOO!!! MIKE BROWN, HEAD COACH FOR THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS HAS BEEN FIRED. *coughs*

Let me turn the volume down. Mike Brown, after a lack luster 1-4 start despite having Steve Nash, Dwight Howard AND Kobe Bryant in his starting lineup, has been terminated. Laker fans everywhere rejoice It saddens me that it took this extreme measure to happen but something had to be done.

ESPN source Ramona Shelbourne reports that It is not known yet if assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff or Chuck Person will take over for him on interim basis. I don’t know why we hired the Cavaliers ex coach anyway.

DAMN. Worst Day Ever.

UPDATE: Rumor has it that the Lakers are shopping for a new Head coach in either Jerry Sloan, celebrated Utah Jazz ex-Head who recently retired; Mike D’Antoni, most recently ending a stint with the Knicks. D’Antoni is most noted for his lack of defensive plays and strong coaching emphasis on offense.

(Sports) Stern’s Legacy: A Look Back At A Controversial Tenure

NBA commissioner David Stern will retire on Feb. 1, 2014, completing a 30-year run in which he guided the league through the Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan eras. For many, Stern is the only commissioner they have ever known. Stern, 70, has been the NBA’s commissioner since Feb. 1, 1984. Last December, at the time a new collective bargaining agreement was announced, he knowingly predicted it would be the final labor deal before he retires.

“This is a 10-year (labor) deal, with a re-opener at six,” Stern said at the time, explaining that either the owners or the players union can opt out after six seasons. “I’m not planning to be here certainly for the 10 and probably not the six.”

Stern’s reign has not been without mishap. Over the last few years these controversies have become more prominent and less apt to be accepted. Hit the jumps for a walk through of Stern’s not so noble reign over the National Basketball Association.

(Sports) Derek Jeter’s surgery Needs 4 to 5 months for recovery

Derek Jeter will have surgery on his broken left ankle, and the New York Yankees say he is expected to need four to five months to completely recover.

The Yankees said Wednesday that Jeter will be operated on Saturday by Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C. The timetable the team announced means Jeter likely would be ready to return to baseball sometime between the start of spring training in mid-February and late spring training in mid-March.

Jeter, the Yankees’ 38-year-old captain, broke his ankle Saturday in the 12th inning of the AL championship series opener while trying to field a ground ball.

The Yankees did not say whether there was any ligament damage.
