The South Carolina Gamecocks beat the Clemson Tigers 27-17 at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina on Saturday night, before a crowd of more than 82,000 fans. It marked the fourth straight season that South Carolina had beaten their arch-rivals.
Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier picked up his 65th career win at USC to become the winningest football coach in school history, surpassing Rex Enright.
Back-up quarterback Dylan Thompson, filling in for Connor Shaw who sprained his foot last week against Wofford, threw for three touchdowns, and Jadeveon Clowney had four and a half sacks in the Gamecocks victory. Clowney has 13 sacks this year to set a Gamecocks single-season record.
Last week the Lakers said Steve Nash would be out for at least one more week and this week they’ve extended it to at least another week. Nash seems to be having issues in his recovery from a non displaced leg fracture.
Nash will miss games against Houston and Brooklyn, and at Sacramento, Memphis and Dallas, before being re-evaluated once again by Dr. Steve Lombardo.
It’s the same update we received last week, and Nash admitted his frustration as he just can’t tough out an injury of that kind to get on the floor. Of course, the big picture concern for the Lakers is that Nash be fully healthy as the season goes on, so the team certainly can’t rush his return.
Nash will miss the debut of his former coach Mike D’Antoni but as they said it’s important for him to be fully healthy, especially with the type of offense D’Antoni likes to run.
The Lakers are off to a really bad start. 0-2 for the season and 0-10 if you count preseason. Last night against Portland Dwight Howard was put on a 3rd poster in the last week and Steve Nash hurt his leg in the 2nd quarter colliding with future rookie of the year Damian Lillard.
“Half of the time, I don’t get back on defense after we just scored,” World Peace said. “I’m wondering what just happened.”

Smith said he was upset when Newton sat sulking on the bench instead of getting up to watch backup Derek Anderson and trying to learn from his own mistakes.
As a team captain and the elder statesman of the team, Smith felt something needed to be said to the 23-year old Newton about the importance of remaining positive and better handling adversity.
