Christmas comes early for Beyoncé fans. In the biggest surprise move of the year, the pop superstar quietly released her fifth studio album to iTunes on Friday.
“Surprise!” tweeted Bey moments after the midnight launch.
The visual album, simply titled BEYONCÉ, features 14 songs and 17 videos, with contributions from Jay Z, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Pharrell, Timbaland, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and even her daughter Blue Ivy.
The videos were shot throughout the world in New York, Paris, Sydney, and Rio de Janeiro during her worldwide “Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.”
“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it,” said Bey. “I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”
She has also premiered the first part of “Self-Titled,” a mini documentary feature that offers a glimpse into the entire project. It details her mind-set and artistic vision throughout the making of BEYONCÉ.
See the tracklisting below and head to iTunes to get your copy for $15.99. Individual songs will be available for purchase on December 20.

Clowney came to the coaches before the game and said that bruised ribs that kept him from practice Thursday were too sore for him to play.
So the 6-foot-6, 274-pound All-American watched the Gamecocks’ 35-28 win against Kentucky from the sidelines, chatting with teammates as South Carolina lost a large lead for the third straight game.
If Clowney “wants to play, we will welcome him to come play for the team if he wants,” Spurrier said after the game. “But if he doesn’t want to play, he doesn’t have to play. Simple as that.”
On Sunday, Spurrier reclassified Clowney’s injury as a muscle strain. Spurrier said the frustration he expressed a day earlier was a result of how late Clowney waited to tell his coaches he wouldn’t play.
“It was just we didn’t know he wasn’t playing until right before the game,” Spurrier said. “That is always a little frustrating. Usually the trainer or doctor comes and tells you this guy is out, and that did not happen last night. But on the other side if a player is in pain and can’t play, I don’t want him to play. None of us do.”
Asked about Clowney’s commitment to the Gamecocks, Spurrier said, “You’ll have to ask him that.”
Spurrier’s kept Clowney on a short leash with the media since early August, letting him speak only after games. Spurrier said that would change this week to give Clowney a chance to explain his injury.
Defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward said Saturday he thought Clowney would play during the team’s walk-through and was surprised when he learned he wouldn’t be playing.
The saga continues for Pure Pain Records. With new music and videos coming soon, Bad Daddy drops the long awaited vid for “Kill Me” one of his more powerful and reflective songs. Pure Pain said years ago that “Only God Can Stop Us.” With the passing of Camoflauge and the incarceration of Pure Pain’s CEO, it looks like Pure Pain is sticking to their words. #StayTuned
