Blake Griffin has a bad rep for flopping and on Saturday he got called out on it.
Mid-way through the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ win over the Clippers, David Lee didn’t appreciate the way Blake Griffin reacted to some contact underneath the basket. Likely dealing with this in varying degrees all night, Lee had a message for Griffin, and delivered it right to his face.
Sumter High School’s 2-quarter scrimmage against Lee Central in the 31st Annual SHS/Sertoma Club Football Jamboree on Friday started with a flash: the Gamecocks’ Antonio Rembert streaking down the sideline for an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the opening play.
Less than three minutes of game clock later, there was another flash: this a bolt of lightning just beyond Memorial Stadium that caused a 30-minute delay. And while SHS went on to a 17-0 victory over the Stallions, head coach Paul Sorrells wishes his team would have been able to play without the delay.
A man accused of shooting an 8-year-old Chesnee girl to get back at his wife for leaving him is expected in court.
A hearing is scheduled Monday in Spartanburg in the case against Ricky Lee Blackwell.
Blackwell was arrested in 2009 and charged with murder in the death of Heather Brooke Center.
Authorities say Blackwell put the girl in a headlock, then shot her in the head and fired three more shots into her as she fell. The girl was the daughter of Blackwell’s estranged wife’s boyfriend.
Authorities said Blackwell also shot himself in the stomach.
Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty if Blackwell is convicted.
