(Sports) HOLD UP! Amar’e Stoudemire Willing To Take Bench Role With Knicks

I was surprised when I read this.  I wouldn’t think Stat would be ok with riding the pine, but it’s great to see that he’s being a team player!

Amar’e Stoudemire would accept a role as the New York Knicks’ sixth man if asked, two sources with knowledge of Stoudemire’s thinking told ESPNNewYork.com.

“All he cares about right now is helping the team and winning,” said one source, who has been around Stoudemire regularly in recent weeks. “He’d be fine with coming off the bench if that’s what they want.”

Stoudemire hasn’t spoken with reporters since suffering a left knee injury in the preseason. He’s been rehabilitating his knee following arthroscopic surgery for the past four weeks and is expected to miss at least another Continue reading

(Sports) Kevin Durant Fighting Lawsuit Over Nickname

This lawsuit is beyond ridiculous and hopefully the judge will rule in Durant’s favor. smh.

Kevin Durant is fighting back against a lawsuit claiming he stole the nickname “Durantula” from a 1980s musician arguing that he didn’t give himself the moniker and doesn’t even use it to make money.

(Sports) Video:WOW!!! Ray Rice’s Amazing Fourth-and-29 Conversion

The Ravens wouldn’t have been in a position to go to overtime had Rice not made what might be the play of the year. With 1:59 left in regulation, and the ball at the Ravens’ 37-yard line, quarterback Joe Flacco responded to a fourth-and-29 situation by throwing a little swing pass to Rice that went one yard beyond the line of scrimmage. Under normal circumstances, the receiver would have been tackled a few yards upfield, the Chargers would have taken over on downs, and everyone in Baltimore would have been roasting Cameron and Flacco all week.

Under abnormal circumstances, you get one running back making a supreme effort, pulling through several Chargers defenders, and just barely picking up the first down. The replay assistant upstairs challenged the spot from referee Gene Steratore’s crew, and that took about 10 interminable minutes, but it was eventually ruled a first down. Six plays later, kicker Justin Tucker booted a 38-yard field goal to end regulation and tie the game. And with 1:12 left in overtime, Tucker nailed another 38-yarder to give the Ravens the come-from-behind win — and add another agonizing loss to Norv Turner’s quiver.

The real story was Rice’s historic conversion. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the play was the longest fourth-down conversion since 2001, when the Buffalo Bills converted a fourth-and-34 against the Indianapolis Colts.

You just don’t see plays like this every day. And you don’t see running backs like Ray Rice too often at all.

(Sports) Video: NBA Harrison Barnes’ Crazy Slam Dunk on Nikola Pekovic!

You know this dunk from Harrison barnes on Nikola Pekovic is insane for a couple of reasons, Barnes cutting full speed to the basket, and David Lee hitting him in stride perfectly with the no-look pass before Barnes elevates and detonates on Pekovic is just flat-out fantastic.  Two, just look at the Warriors bench, barely able to contain themselves with excitement after Barnes does the deed, and stares down Pekovic afterward for good measure.

(Sports) Knicks’ Iman Shumpert Targets January Return From Torn ACL

The Knicks defense started off red hot this year but the past couple games they’ve taken a slump.  One of their most defensive presence’s is guard Iman Shumpert who went out with a torn ACL during the game one of the playoffs last season.  We haven’t heard much about his recovery but he might finally have a return date in mind.

Shumpert told The Post recently his target date for return is January, not December. The former Georgia Tech guard will be a dynamo to aid the Knicks’ on-the-ball defense and take pressure off Brewer. Before suffering a torn ACL, Shumpert was among the best perimeter defenders in basketball in his rookie season.
