(Sports) Hartsville’s Shaw commits to High Point

 Hartsville point guard Jaylen Shaw tells WPDE Sports that he’s excited to be a part of the High Point family.  The 2012 WPDE All-Hoop Zone selection committed to play for the Panthers on Monday.  Shaw averaged 19 points and 6.5 assists a game to help Hartsville win its first ever boys state championship.  Shaw scored 14 points in the state title game victory over Southside in Columbia last March.

  Shaw is considered one of the top point guard prospects in South Carolina and a contender for 2013 WPDE Mr. Hoop Zone Trophy.  Shaw chose to play for the Big South school over offers and interest from Evansville, Furman, Wichita State, Radford and Winthrop. 

(Sports) Shaw on a streak heading into Kentucky game


University of South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw has a streak to extend when the Gamecocks take on SEC opponent Kentucky Saturday night in Lexington.

Last week against Missouri, Shaw completed 20 straight passes to set a school record and tie for second in the SEC milestone.  Although he failed to connect on his first pass of the game, Shaw completed 20 of 21 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns in the Gamecocks 31-10 win over the Tigers at Williams-Brice Stadium.
