(Sports) NY Knicks Could Become the Oldest Team in NBA History

“In July, when the Knicks lost then 23-year-old Jeremy Lin to the Houston Rockets, they picked up Pablo Prigioni (35), Marcus Camby (38), Jason Kidd (39) and Kurt Thomas (40 this week). The Knicks expect 38-year-old Rasheed Wallace, who retired in 2010, to sign with them this week. General manager Glen Grunwald said the transactions undoubtedly improved the team. ‘We don’t think we got older. We feel we got more experienced and better,’ he said, adding that these are ‘some hungry veterans that know how to win and are still very good players.’ He cited Kidd and Wallace winning titles elsewhere, and Camby having previously won the defensive-player-of-the-year award. ‘We can play,’ Camby said, bristling at the notion that he and other players might need days off during the season to stay fresh. ‘Otherwise the organization wouldn’t have brought us in here.’ […] The 2012 Knicks will be almost five years older than they were last year, when the average player was 27 years and 300 days old. Assuming Wallace signs, their top 13 players would be, on average, 32 years and 240 days old—the oldest team in NBA history, according to Stats LLC. No team has ever gotten so much older from one season to the next.”

(Sports) The Lakers Are Still Kobe Bryant’s Team

The Lakers might have added a three-time Defensive Player of the Year in Dwight Howard and a two-time MVP in Steve Nash since last season, but the No. 1 guy is still going to be No. 24 if he has anything to say about it. “I got a question earlier about whose team this is,” Bryant told reporters at the Lakers media day Monday. “I don’t want to get into the, ‘Well, we share …’ No, it’s my team. But I want to make sure that Dwight, when I retire, this is going to be his. I want to teach him everything I possibly know so that when I step away this organization can ride on as if I never left.”

Howard, a former teammate of Bryant’s at the 2008 Olympics, with his happy-go-lucky personality and fun-loving ways, said Continue reading

(SPORTS) Video: King James & KD Laugh As Deron Williams Gets Crossed

Now come on USA, we don’t need this out of y’all. USA played Argentina, Nets’ Deron Williams got crossed…..or did he slip (like James Harden claimed)?  Either way, LeBron & KD got a good laugh outta it.

Check it out & let us know what you think?

(SportS) Video: Team USA Breaks Olympic Records Against Nigeria / Melo hits X 3’s

  • Olympic record – 71.1 field goal percentage  James Harden, who also almost suffered an ankle injury after getting crossedover, was the only US player to shoot under 50%. Iggy & Davis both shot 100% and Westbrook & Deron Williams both only missed 1 shot.
  • Olympic record – 29 3-pointers on 63% Surprisingly LeBron was 1 of the 3 players that did not make a 3. Chandler & Davis were the other two.
  • Olympic record – 83-point victory:  The previous US record was 79 when US beat Cuba 136-57.  US scored 49 in the 1st quarter and lead by 24.
  • Olympic record – 156 total points: This broke Brazil’s record of 138 points against Egypt. The record was broke with 4:37 left in the game.
  • Team USA record – 37 points from Carmelo Anthony:  This is something you wont see in the NBA. Melo scoring 37 points on only 16 shot attempts!  He broke the record of 31 previously held by Stephon Marbury against Spain in 2004.
  • Olympic record – Melo hits 10 3-pointers:  5 came in the first half and then 5 came during a 2 minute stretch in the 3rd quarter.  Ironically, he missed the one 3 point attempt that he thought was going on so he pulled a Bird and started celebrating after shooting it.

(SPORTS) Olympic Swimmer Blocks LeBron

Olympic swimmer Lauren Perdue on turning down the King’s offer of a feast (grabbing a bite in the dining hall with LeBron)

“He was kind of joking.” “But, he was basically like, ‘Would you like to come eat with me at the dining hall?’ And, I said, ‘Um, I’m sorry, I have a curfew.’”

I hope the media doesn’t go crazy with this one and try and make it seem like LeBron is cheating on his wife.
